Getting deep with Venture Snowboards

At 9,318 feet above sea level sits Silverton, Colorado.  This little mountain town has got it all, steep mountains, limitless backcountry options, an experts only ski area, bottomless powder, a gas station, a shady bar, and in my opinion, a company that makes the best splitboards in the industry.

The company is Venture Snowboards. They have been making legit snowboards since 1999.

“Venture is a small, independent snowboard manufacturer, nestled in Colorado’s remote San Juan Mountains. Owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Klemens and Lisa Branner, the company is dedicated to handcrafting high performance snowboards while minimizing environmental impact.”

My husband and I bought our first Venture splitboards last season, the Helix. and the Storm. We tested them out on some big lines in the Tetons. Our outings ranged anywhere from 3 to 10 hours car to car. The boards performed exceptionally well. Last season Jason and I rode the Sliver on Nez Perce in Grand Teton National Park on our new splitties. Check out this video of our mission.

Many people avoid riding splitboards because they don’t have the same feel as their solid board, or they are afraid they won’t perform as well on technical terrain.  I found my Venture splitboard to ride just as well as my solid board, if not better. I’ll even take it on runs that don’t go thru.

If you are interested in getting a Venture this year you can learn more about that here. Or you can support Ungrounded by getting one on sale at backcountry.com right below here.

Check back in with Ungrounded throughout the season for more on Venture Snowboards.
