New Belgium 2 Below Ale

Due to record early snowfall blanketing much of the western US, severe disassociation has set in. Is it really still only November?? With snow depths that line up more with expectations for New Years, it is odd but awesome that the holiday season is only just beginning.

We have alot to celebrate, responsibly of course, so it is key to select a beer that will best enhance this already idyllic mix of epic snow and yuletide cheer. Our reco is the winter seasonal 2 Below Ale by our good friends at New Belgium Brewery .

The 2 Below is a snow season staple because its warm and hearty blend of malts, hops, and subtle spices come together in a beer that is at once challenging yet eminently friendly – perfect for an apres sesh or a toasty fireside cuddle with your significant other.

At 6.6% ABV, the 2 Below is a suitably heady indulgence. We dig this ‘buzz meter’ because in contrast to the 9%+ ABV beers by the likes of Lagunitas, you can savor more than one or two without the fear of ralphing in your one piece as you wait for first box the next morning.

Since holiday season is also food season and we are all hungry from shredding, New Belgium’s resident sensory specialist, Lauren Salazar, recommends coupling a 2 Below with these amazing cuisine selections: Sweet potatoes and dark meat or wild game, stuffing, au grautin, chile con queso, butternut squash bisque.
