INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL VIDEO

Course Description

In this course you will become familiar with the ins and outs of basic short video production using standard, HD, and DSLR video capturing devices. The focus is to provide the knowledge necessary to construct a project from concept to completion utilizing the tools available. You will learn project management, shooting techniques, recording audio, media transcoding, creating titles, and editing. This course will guide you through the entire process so you too can be a filmmaker. Three teachers will cover the various popular forms of video media and production. Video equipment will be available in class.

From Valley to Peak: Color Change in Grand Teton

2012 has brought us an odd spring in the Tetons. In May we are used to rarely seeing the sun. Snow usually continues to fall consistently throughout the month. With the weather in Grand Teton National Park rapidly changing from winter to summer this year, we thought it would be a good time to share this amazing nature film from, Grand Teton National Park Foundation

The films were recently completed by Jackson-based videographers Jesse Ryan and Ryan Christopher of New Thought Media on behalf of Grand Teton National Park Foundation and Grand Teton Association. This video is the fourth of four videos in the ‘From Valley to Peak’ series. Enjoy!

The Adventures of Steve Romeo and Chris Onufer Part II-A Tribute Video

Here is an inspiring video that Jackson Hole filmmaker and snowboarder Darrell Miller put together as a tribute to Steve Romeo and Chris Onufer. The footage in this video was produced back in 2005. It explores the reasons why we ski in Grand Teton National Park, why we risk our lives in the mountains, and consider the Teton Range our religion. The commentary is by Steve Romeo, and includes Romeo’s March 11, 2005 ski descent of the Grand Teton’s Ford Couloir, with Reed Finlay and John Griber. Although Chris Onufer’s skiing is not featured in the video, he shares the same ideals as those spoken by Romeo.
